Each year Quilters' Workshop sponsors a community service project to help those in need. Just a few of our activities in past years include making lap quilts for the Shriners Hospitals, donating turkeys to Metropolitan Ministries, adopting a United Way family, teaching quilting to residents of Alpha House (a home for unwed, pregnant teenagers) as well as donating quilts and baby items to Alpha House, making financial donations to the Spring (a center for abused women and children) via proceeds of a mini quilt action, also, making quilts for the Spring, making cot size quilts for the Salvation Army Transition House, making infant quilts for the Neo Natal Unit at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital, and making quilts for the Katrina victims. Aiding the community with our talents.
This year our project is making pillowcases for the Salvation Army's housing facilities in Tampa.

We now have a grand total of 71 pillowcases turned in. I believe that we will meet or exceed our goal of 90 pillowcases. Also, I have about 5 pillows turned in and 2 sets of twin sheets. Everyone is doing an outstanding job. I think it is a good thing that we are possibly adding some (home) comfort to people that need some encouragement.

Thanks to everyone who helped with this charity effort. Today we gave 104 pillowcases, 10 twin size sheets (the size they requested), 10 pillows, and 12 wash cloths to the Director of Development and Community Relations for the Salvation Army. She expressed great appreciation for our contribution. The pillowcases will add a very personal touch to their environment. Thanks again, everyone!
